  1. Miguel Barnet, Cuban poet and anthropologist, took notes and taped this first hand account of a former slave, Esteban Montejo, for two years from the time Montejo was until his death at From Barnet's notes and tapes we have this sometimes disjointed but very interesting account of slavery, the customs of the times, and of the later /5(4).
  2. Runaway Slaves in the United States. On June 27, , Betty — a slave belonging to Micajah Ricks of Nash County, North Carolina — ran away with her two children, Burrel and Gray, aged seven and five. Betty had violated one of her owner's rules because, a few days before she fled, Ricks had burned the letter M on the left side of her face. Humiliated by this, Betty tried to hide the brand.
  3. They did however license the vinyl LP version to Cargo Germany, without notifying the band or paying the band their part of the license fee, as agreed on before, and stipulated in the contract. The Cargo LP doesn't mention any songwriting credits or publishing information anywhere, making this a bit of a dubious release. In my book it's a bootleg.
